Disaster Services
The Clark Co. Chapter provides Disaster Relief services to residents of Clark and Washington Counties in southern Indiana. These services are facilitated by our Disaster Action Team, which is comprised of teams of volunteers that rotate on-call status. Teams go to scenes of fires, flooding, storm damage and other disaster situations and provide immediate emergency relief to families affected by these events.
Disaster volunteers participate in Chapter affairs in other capacities as well. As part of the Emergency Services program, volunteers work in many areas. They: work with local agencies developing Partnership Agreements; do Community Disaster Education presentations; teach Disaster Education classes; update the Chapter Disaster Plan; work at Chapter fundraising events; help man Lost Child stations at Thunder over Louisville; and help with many duties in the office. There is always “something to do” as a Clark County Red Cross DAT team member!
All people interested in becoming involved should view the on-line presentations available on the American Red Cross website. Go to www.redcross.org and click on "Giving and Getting Involved" tab. Once there, click on the "VOLUNTEER" link on the left side of the page. Under "Get Started Now!", there is an online orientation and the "Introduction to Disaster Services" that will get you on your way to befoming a Red Cross Disaster Volunteer.
If you are interested in becoming part of our team of outstanding volunteers, contact the Chapter for more information.
