What You Will Learn With The Red Cross CNA Program
The Red Cross Nursing Assistant course consists of 115 total hours which includes 40 hours of comprehensive reality based instruction covering such subjects as:
•Critical thinking skills •Organizational skills •The Health Care Delivery System •Infection Control Concepts, Principles and Practice •Resident Rights •Abuse Recognition and Prevention •The Aging Process •Dementia •Anatomy •Vital Signs •Personal Care and Hygiene •Nutrition
The nursing assistant training course also includes 75 hours of clinical training at a licensed, state-approved long term care facility,where students learn to apply the skills they have learned in the classroom. Clinical practice is always done under the supervision of Red Cross and Indiana State Department of Health (ISDH) certified instructor. The program is fully accredited by the Indiana State Department of Health. All students who successfully complete the course are eligible to take the Indiana state certification exam.
The state exam is coordinated and scheduled for you through Ivy Tech Community College, the official Indiana state testing entity. State testing is conducted at the Clark County Red Cross Chapter by the approved state tester.
